Can't fly after importing XCSoar window in to FI

XCSoar is a free gliding utility that displays some useful flight data. However when I import its Window in to FI the FI screen flickers between the Main Menu (waiting for simulator) and the normal flying view. This makes it unusable. Is this a bug in FI, in XCSoar or something that's never likely to work?

If you want real data it needs a GPS feed, I'm using XConn from here https://www.pocketfms.com/2-DownUtility.asp

I believe the problem also exists with the FSX version of FI but I don't have that combo to try.
