Right Eye thingy and performance

Postby BOZ » Thu Nov 19, 2015 6:19 pm

I looked through all the right eye issues here I could find..

Is a right eye flickering on and off strictly a performance issue where I simply need to turn down some stuff?

I noticed it last night flying the A2A B17 in P3Dv3.

Also it seems I should be doing better performance wise. Maybe I need to experiment with NI settings?

I tried to buy the fastest computer I could but maybe I should have gotten more advice before spending all that money.

Hmm did that make a difference? If so that's super helpful information!

No turns out that entry wasn't in there... found that on another thread here.

My issue seems to be a little different than I thought. I do have a right eye thing but it is a darkness that is very noticeable during night flights. Almost can't see anything if I close my left eye. During the day it doesn't bother me so much.

What I thought was a right eye flicker is actually in both eyes but feels like it is just in the right. This seems to be performance related. I overclocked the 5960X to 4.5 and also overclocked the GTX980 with the PrecisionX software and that seems to have fixed it for the most part. It does come and go a bit still but a reboot or break seems to clear it up. I am running crazy settings though but I do have a lot of horsepower and may be taking it to the edge a bit. FlyInside usually runs about 39/75 ish.

Last night I added P3D Fiber Accelerator so we'll see if I can squeeze it a bit more.

I'll list my settings if you're interested.

I see what it is now. It appears that the right eye has a higher contrast ratio than the left and at night it makes it hard to focus. Is there anyway to adjust the contrast of just the right eye to balance it out?

After reading a bunch of developer posts at oculus it turns out that a dark right eye that messes up shadows and night scenes is present in all rifts to varying degrees. They are not about to replace every DK2 screen and not sure they could get a working screen anyway so dark scenes will have to wait until the consumer version comes out.

At least one person has corrected the issue after buying a phone on eBay and replacing the screen.

Isn't there any way to boost the right eye levels?

How'd the fiber test go?

At the time it helped by dynamically adjusting the settings, but I don't use it anymore since getting the new 1080 card.
