Considering getting Aerofly fs2

Postby amt_airb0rne » Mon Jan 30, 2017 12:33 pm

Just for the wow factor in a VR flight experience.. Everyone who tries it in VR says the graphics are crisp and clearer than FSX/p3d with FI. Anyone here share that kind of experience?

I posted this on another thread back in September. I haven't played it since, so I cannot comment on anything since then:

"I decided to give Aerofly 2 a try.
I played it for all of 31 minutes, and sent in a refund request.

Pros: Control Input selection is very easy and intuitive. I like the interior of the 172.
Cons: Everything else. The terrain looks terrible. The flight models are terrible. The flight deck of the 737-500 is an abomination.

I'm sure glad that steam offers refunds."

Hello,

You should try aeroflyFS2 if you have the oculus. I bought AFS2 in july and barely touched it because it felt cold and lonely compared to xp10 and P3D with its orbx, weather systems and dozens of addon planes. But.......BUT.........
Last week I finally bought the rift and tried flyinside for xp10 xp11 p3d and fsx:se. It is wonderfull software, it really is. My gtx970 was struggling even with low settings and the blurries and shimmering were al over the place. Then I tried AFS2 and that blew me away!! It is so sharp and crisp and bright compared to the other sims even with my gtx970. The lack of a living world did not bother me for one second because I was in a real plane. A warm, closed nicely lit C172! No stutters, readable cockpit, great!
If however you love your PMDG aircraft however, afs2 is not for you. On the other hand, it's nearly impossible to control all those systems in the rift due to blurries and jumpy/disappearing mouse behaviour and the lack of systems in afs2 is an advantage here!
Conclusion: if you love vfr and ga aircraft the rift and afs2 are awesome even with a 970. If you have a nvidia1080 or so than flyinside and the other, better, sims are worth a shot.

I had the exact same experience as this and also got a refund pretty damn sharpish. It looked awful.

Yeah same.. I refunded it immediatly.. X-Plane 10 is the best I've tried yet.. Creating incredible scenery with Ortho4XP (created the whole Switzerland) and I'm flying the alps like I would have done in real life.. The screendoor is the only thing seperating this sim from reality now.. O...M....G!!!

Aerofly FS2 covers the entire world with photoreal at very low resolution. I think the ones reporting crisp graphics are stayimg within the limited areas of hi-def scenery. A good idea...
