Error starting P3Dv3

Postby jimh20 » Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:43 pm

Hi,
After a few days without flying I started FlyInside\P3Dv3. Oculus Home appeared in the Rift, and that was as far as I got.

Tried again, this time getting to P3Dv3 Scenario screen where I set up a flight. The flight loaded up on my monitor momentarily, then crashed out.

Restarted the computer, tried again resulting as in the second attempt above.

Error message and log file attached.

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for your reply. I decided to do a clean install of the latest Nvidia driver 385.41, just in case Win10 update had messed up the driver.

Fyinside started up P3D as normal, then 35 seconds later flashed up the same error message as before. Shortly after that P3D itself crashed out with the Event Viewer faulting module "KERNELBASE.DLL"

I've attached the log file.

I boasted somewhere recently that my FlyInside\P3D was rock solid..........................Big Mistake! ;)

Edit: I've just tried FI\XP. Flyinside is reporting there that "The Oculus Rift could not be found on the selected adapter." Same with FSX.

Sounds awfully like a driver conflict? How do you delete old drivers mate ? I just install over the top and let the installer do the work.

Hi Tony,

I agree about the driver. I noticed slight stuttering in mouse cursor movement. I use DDU to completely remove the present driver. I've now installed 384.76 and restarted the computer twice to be sure . Normal operation is back to normal. I've just completed a one hour flight in P3D on my monitors - Ugh!!

I can start FlyInside, load a P3D flight, see the usual window on monitor, but when I pick up my Rift I get the same old error message. I'll attach the latest error log.

Should I remove all traces of FlyInside and do a new clean install? A few days ago I was rock solid, flying P3D, and on Driver 384.94.

Decided to clear out FlyInside P3D completely. Installed v1.81. Started the default flight and after a short time FlyInside flashed up the error message.

I'm at a complete loss as to what else I can do.

Do you have your Rift plugged into the correct input/output? Do you have all three monitors connected when you start FI?

Hi Tony and Stephan,

I'd like to say first I haven't knowingly changed anything, although that might be irrelevant.

I have a three monitor setup, giving me a wide desktop and a single out of the windshield view in the Sim. I have a digital Matrox Triplehead connecting my graphics card to the monitors, and the desktop is setup by software called Matrox Powerdesk.

"SLI Sub system" - never heard of it. I only have one GTX 1080ti.

I've double checked all my connections.

I should also say that, as a last resort, I restored an end of July backup, and FI is now telling me that "The Oculus Rift could not be found on the selected adapter."

If only an open beta for P3D4 was out I'd do a complete new install of everything and start again.

Thanks for your interest, Guys. I'm open to all suggestions.

Edit: Another day. P3D runs for a few minutes. Log file attached.
