PMDG 747 QOTS II sound

Postby michaelth » Tue Oct 17, 2017 3:34 am

For those who do not own this spectacular bird: it has two "layers" of sound. The normal P3D sounds which go the the rift earphones automatically, and the PMDG sounds. The latter ones have to be directed to the rift earphones via the 747´s FMC sound menu. Together, it gives a fantastic environment. However, every few minutes the PMDG engine sounds cut out for some seconds. I have already looked up the AVSIM PMDG forum. Does someone here know how to solve this odd problem?

Edit: P3D native VR does not produce the sound cut outs.

For now, I have solved it: there is a setting named BKGND in the sound menu of the FMC. Switched on, the background sounds play also when P3D does not have the focus. But why should FlyInside kick out every few seconds?

There is another setting in the FMC menu called "preload sound". The default is set to "off" to save VAS. Since p3d v4 is 64-bit, there is no reason to do that anymore. You may want to give it a try.
