Suggestions for X-Plane aircraft?

Postby helgeras » Sun Jul 23, 2017 11:09 am

Hi,
Does anyone have suggestions for aircraft that work very well with X-Plane and Fly-Inside?

The Aerobask aircraft, the Eclipse 550NG, Pipistrel Panthera 3.0 and Epic E1000, are very good in VR, particularly due to their touch screen avionics, so if you are looking for a good GA aircraft, then these will be worth a look.

If heavy metal is more your thing, then it might be worth awaiting the release and reviews for the much-anticipated FF A320 Ultimate, as that is supposed to be a study level aircraft and reputedly very good.

+1 on that!
The Panthera is awesome and the A320 will be a no-brainer :)

Thanks for the replies. I decided to buy the Eclipse 550NG, and have bookmarked the others for the future :)
I am very much looking forward to the A320 as well.

Are you guys seriously saying you can actually read the instruments on those cockpits in VR without having to zoom in all the time?

Yeah, most of the users are very happy with the experience

I use the wheel mouse zoom sometimes, even if it went a bit odd after the last update, but more often I can get away with just leaning into the instruments. My eyes aren't perfect, not helped by my advanced years, but I don't find the need for an occasional zoom to be too much of an issue.

The Aerobask aircraft have very readable displays, but for the 550NG I have some advice. Don't leave the engines at full throttle for too long as at least one of them might burst into flames. Also, use IAS mode to climb, with speed set at around 180kt and V/S to descend. I am sure that you will love it and fly safe.

I have problems reading the displays as well with Oculus CV1. As a simple example: In the default C172 I can nearly read the direction letters (N,S,E;W) on the compass (I can because I know what letters are supposed to be there).

Is this the experience others have?

I normally wear glasses and have just ordered some lenses for the oculus, but have them yet.
