Hi Tony,

Yes, as stated above. I'm currently on the latest beta of Oculus Home.
I have also done a clean install of the Nvidia GPU driver. I'm currently on 385.41
Note that I only install the drive, I don't install any of the other crap.

I suspect that there is a screw up in the display positioning info being passed to X-Plane.
Either the Oculus software is sending erroneous positioning info to Flyinside, or Flyinside is miss interpreting the info given to it by Oculus.

Another suspicion I have is that Oculus may have made changes to their software to "improve" room scalability, maybe this is causing the problems?
Note that I only have a small play area. I did try with the sensors further apart and further back, but it didn't seem to improve things.
I even tried with a single sensor placed higher and further back from the play area, but that didn't fix the problem either.
Software updates within Oculus Home are disabled when I fly.

I never ever had any problems at all when I was using Oculus Home 1.16.

One thing I also need to consider is when I play a game, like Robo Recall, I'm standing in the centre of the play area.
However, when I'm flying, I position myself further forward as the flight controls are normally sitting on a desk in front of me.
Although I'm further forward when flying, I'm still within the guardian system.

Next weekend I will move some furniture around to increase the size of the play area and recalibrate.
I will sit in the centre of the play area when flying, see if that helps.

Steven.

Holy Crap
I took a few months away from this and came back and it worse. Now using FlyInside 1.83 and updated to XP11.10 and the lag has morph into complete displacement. Aside from the 2-3 second "pause" every 10-15 seconds and maxed out CPU cores, it shifts my position - both lateral and radial - in the FI menu itself. After choosing my recenter button, I went two chair-widths left, then right and ended up back in the center, when the menus at my 3 o'clock. Haha.

Someone mentioned HMD throughput - which I found interesting - but I have only one HDMI connection and I have only USB 3.0 connections. I've even tried my Thunderbolt connection with an adapter.

Look, it's obviously my system as many people fly with similar systems; start, load, and fly with little issue. What this is remains a mystery even after a visit from from Dan.

This is probably the wrong place to ask (and I mean no disrespect Tony, Dan) but is there any ETA on Native Support for X-Plane 11?

Thanks Tony,

I think between you, me, and Dan, we gave it a an honest go and I don't consider that effort a waste because I learned a lot. I look forward to the new simulator you guys are developing with great enthusiasm.

And I'll keep a vigilant watch on these forums regardless.

Appreciate the support, Tony - I mean that in every way.
Good Luck!

I seemed to have mostly fixed the issues I was having (long pauses + CPU cores maxed out) by turning off Threaded optimisation in the Nvidia Global Settings.
I'm running X-Plane 10, I've not tried it on X-Plane 11 yet.
I'm still running flyinside 1.81 and have subscribed to the Oculus beta.

(Where is the "Own Owe You A Pint of Beer" icon?)
That helped get me in the cockpit. Sitting still, I get 30s/90 with the occasional drop to paused. I have noticed that I have to keep ASW ON in settings and I'm not sure whether or not VR Optimization ON/OFF has any effect.
It didn't completely fix the pause/stutter issue, but it helped! I'm still tinkering with it and anything associated with lifting, spreading, or stacking the load on the GPU.

But!!! - that is first dangling thread of this ugly plaid pullover that helps unravel the mystery.
Turning OFF "Threaded Optimization" isn't something I ever considered. It was set to AUTO (when did AUTO become a criminal setting?)

Let's pretend I slid you a pint of Stella or whatever you drink.
Cheers Mate!

What do you think, Tony? Any ideas?

Most certainly, I'd love a pint :) yes to the optimisation off but if you getting 30/90 with ASW on then something is wrong ??? 30/45 is what you should be seeing. I'm sure you checked but you absolutely sure nothing is running stealthy in the background mate ?

No, nothing running in the background. I've checked programs and services - and both DCS and XP are tied to a profile (ASUS ROG thing) that shutdowns unused programs and services when either of those two are running.

I'm sorry, "30s/90" wasn't a complaint - it was trying to convey my excitement with seeing those numbers again since Early July, while acknowledging that the pausing is still there. I'm pretty happy about this.

Do you think the stuttering is because of the GPU or the CPU?

You could try Process Lasso if it'd be because of the CPU:

Also worth a try for the GPU:
Compare your NVIDIA settings with those of other users. Do you VSYNC on? VSYNC could limit the fps to 30....
Downgrade all your X-Plane GFX settings to the minimum - just to see if it makes any difference. Turn VR optimisations ON. Disable every kind of Anti-Aliasing....
