Ortho4XP makes scenery with detailed height data and orthographic images from different sources.
There are plenty videos on YouTube for tutorials

So how do you currently get realistic weather in XP11 if not using a wx engine?

As for Ortho4XP that is about how much I know about it already but will look more into it.

You can either use the standard weather engine or waste your money on an external one ;)

Ok, guess I'll need to look into it some more.

I realize switching platforms if that is what I'll be doing means a lot of work

It's actually not that hard but do it step by step:
Get to know the basics of XP11 first and then decide on what you want to spend money on

I wouldn't call buying a weather engine that does a reasonable dipiction of weather a waste of money  but anyway. In XP11 you can change the profile for key assignments to FSX and get very similar keys :D

Will look into the different available weather options.

Does the built-in weather in XP at least update in real time? What is the major drawbacks of the current weather offerings compared to AS16 in P3D for example?

And how's the FlyInside implementation for XP vs P3D?

Any of you guys who tried both being able to compare the two?

I did not call it a waste in general, I said that he should stick to the default weather engine right now.
If you have a different opinion that's totally fine and you can buy every available weather engine and be happy with it ;)

XP does download real weather at the start, If you want real weather. Besides that you can define the weather update cycle time and it will periodically update the weather for you.

OK, that's good because I always like flying in real world/time weather.
