Xplane and Prepar3d. Separate issues.

Postby Kheilbr1 » Mon Sep 04, 2017 1:49 pm

Hi,
Joys of setting up a new computer... all that worked well doesn't now :(
Added X-Plane to the FS suite... when it came up I was looking at attached.
Seems to be multiple desktops. Help! picture attached. Not sure why it cropped
but if you open it in a new tab it is clear what is happening.

Have another problem in Prepar3d. I get a mouse cursor instead of the dot to select items on the menus.
I have multiple window banners I cannot get out of the way. How do I get the dot back so I can look at and move items.
Thanks!

Try deleting the Flyinside.cfg under appdata/roaming/flyinside folder first but you'll need to set everything up again mate ;)

Edited: spoke too soon....

ok... found the wiki with a google search that clarified the file naming.
Did the following:
1) Deleted the settings_pro_Flyinside XP_settings.cfg file. Restarted. Re-activated. Same problem with infinite windows popping up.
2) Deleted above file as well as the subwindow_rules. Same result.

Any other ideas to fix??? FSX version working fine, P3D (other than the cursor issue which I am about to try and fix) seems to work fine. Just having this
window issue in X-PLANE. Thanks

FYI since this is still in Beta....

I reinstalled completely and this has solved the windowing problem. Alas, now I load and find myself standing in the grass by the runway... no cockpit.
Also, when I originally installed I was asked to run X-Plane in windowed mode. When this happens I cannot see enough of the X-Plane 11 program
to select much of anything and I cannot start the flight via a mouse click but have to use the enter key on the computer. Runnning 4K monitors
(Laptop and external both 4K). Also, when FlyInside is active I cannot interact with the xplane window on the desktop.

Hope this helps iron out some wrinkles. I am hopeful that down the road I will be able to use this but for now I am pretty much dead in
the water.

Hi Tony,
thanks for the quick reply. Always appreciated.
The Vive controller box is plugged directly into the ports on the laptop for HDMI and USB. I am about to open the laptop case but
I think it is reasonable to assume a gaming VR laptop has the GTX 1060 as part of the motherboard. Below is a link
to the unit and its specs on Amazon if it helps.

Some pictures of what I am seeing in X-Plane 11 when windowed attached..
1) Compressed view of main screen.
2) Same view showing mouse pointer far above where it is highlighting the New Flight Selection.
3) Example of new flight selected and unusable menu.
4) An example of X-Plane 11 running without FlyInside in windowed mode which displays fully.

"resized" in the file name was for my usage as the originals were too large to upload.

Thanks!

This is so hard for us, we don't have access to your laptop so can't test. The only other thing I can think of getting you to try is disabling G-Sync for the one game and see if it makes a difference.

Also can you possibly get me a picture of your settings screen in X-plane whilst started with flyinside mate ?

Hi,
You got me thinking when you said disable G-Sync. My monitor is connected via display port to get 60HZ and the monitor uses FreeSync. Verified FreeSync was turned off on monitor
so that was not the cause. According to my laptop manual, G-sync won't run unless a G-sync monitor is attached. Could not find an option to turn it off anywhere in the Nvidia controls. Then I thought to try unplugging the external monitor. With only the laptop screen FlyInside is working fine. The window is still very small but I can look at it in the Vive and make selections there without squinting :) So, the issue seems to be related to the external monitor/displayport. What might you need to see to help narrow the search as to the interaction?

Samsung E28E510 Monitor Display Port v1.2 used.
Displayport v1.3 on Laptop

I was trying various combinations of monitor settings in Nvidia (no scaling, full screen, aspect ratio) to no avail. If I move Xplane to the large monitor and then
select windowed (vs. Full Screen) it forces it over to the Main Display (laptop). Not sure why Xplane does that.
