Mixed reality - Not windows headset - but the cool VR effect

Postby israelz74 » Tue Oct 03, 2017 7:04 am

Hello

Mixed reality is a wonderful way to share the VR experience with others - either in real time or via a layered video that also captures the experience for yourself to enjoy again and again.

The effect of seeing the user interacting with the environment in a final video - is great.

Oculus are planning to support that. Vive already do. I believe more and more VR apps will.

In flight simming it can give an important tool for learning / instructing.
Think about that - real cockpit videos you liked in Youtube, for instance. How many of them are fpv - head mounted cams? and how many are from a fixed camera looking at the pilot and recording his/her actions?

Are there any plans to support that in Flyinside-FSX/P3D ?

i believe it means rendering an extra mono-scope view, from an angle given by the extra controller - where the hands are rendered too.

I.

No, sorry, I have to disagree with mixed reality for flight sims.

I'm either sitting at my computer in the study or I'm in an aircraft. Not both.

If I'm on approach to 27R at EGLL in the NGX in VR I really don't want to be reminded where I actually am.
Each to his own though.

Hi Blackrat,

Just for the good dicussion:

What i mean is the opposite of what you described.
First, i am not reffering the new Windows mixed reality software/hardware.

Mixed reality videos with Oculus and Vive can be found in growing numbers the last months especially.
They show a fresh, newer perspective of the same immersion in the vr:
They are meant for other people to see, whether streamed in real time or rendered for later sharing or for later self viewing by the vr player who was in fpv, to see himself or herself.

Mixed reality gives the same level of immersion and when the results are good, there is no clue that you are sitting in your room. In fact, it goes further by showing you in the cockpit, where fpv does not. While flying we see the cockpit, the world around the aircraft, our rendered controller hands, but we are not rendered in the scene.
In mixed reality we are shown in the scene. We, not a vr avatar.

As i wrote, this opens more usable/fun ways to document our flights.

For this to happen in flyinside - one can use multi hardware multiplayer..
But nowadays new software have an option to output a second render window whose camera is given by a vr object, that can be a touch controller, somrtimes a 3rd one that is attached to a real camera.

Look for youtubes with oculus and vive mixed reality.and put "-windows".
