P3D Freezing (again)

Postby billr1970 » Sun May 14, 2017 6:22 pm

I'm still having problems with P3D freezing 10-30 minutes into my flights. I had it before in 1.7.1 and was hoping the upgrade to 1.8 would fix it, but it hasn't.

I've experienced freezes with multiple aircraft (default bonanza, A2A Cessna 172, PMDG 737). I run ASN 2016 and ORBX Scenery. I'm able to fly just fine in P3D's native VR mode, but get a freeze in FlyInside.

Currently running SteamVR Build 1493337050

There's no crash log, since I have to force quit P3D. In the FlyInside log file the last ~100 lines have the following:

nnnn.nn (timecode) Displays\DisplayWindow.cpp 631 Simulator was drawing! Ignoring!

Any help you can give? FlyInside is pretty much unusable

Hi Bill, I have just joined this forum concerning another issue but spotted your post. This was something that was happening to me on a few occassions although I don't run SteamVR. I would experience a freeze within the Oculus headset but P3D was still running fine on my monitor. Although not a solution, I discovered a work-around through trial and error. I can disconnect the Oculus HDMi lead that plugs into my graphics card and then reconnect it. This was enough to let the rift reset itself again without affecting the simulator. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue.

Yes I'm confused by this issue.....if Flyinside doesn't produce an error log then I feel something else, system specific is causing issues. I'll point this post to Dan to see if he has any ideas mate.

Tony,

No need to worry about the freezing. I'm running P3D v4.1 now and the native VR is performing well. I tried the trial version of FlyInside for V4 and got a marginal improvement in performance, but at the cost of blurriness in all the textures. I coudn't even read taxiway markers right outside my window.

I'm happy with the native performance and don't need Flyinside.
