I posted in the other thread feeling that the windows update we all got has something to do with it. But wanted to add, that after uninstalling the P3Dv3.4 client and reinstalling it, I can get P3D to open using the desktop shortcut for just P3D (not FlyInside) however I can only prevent the CTD in that by selecting the default flight and then after P3D loads, I can create a new scenario. If I try to change the flight before the sim loads from the opening screen I get the same effect I get when trying to start it using FI.

This seems to be a specific issue with Windows Update KB4038788 and possible addons.

There is a (currently) 5 page thread on the LM forums about it found here:
http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=126667

For now I have uninstalled the update file and all is working normally. I have also disabled windows update until MS gets a chance to work with LM to find a fix. I learned how to do that in various post in that thread.

Hope this helps others.

Thanks . .. I've uninstalled the Win10 update, but Windows reinstalls it the very next day.

I can postpone updates, won't let me choose what and when the updates happen.

I believe you can switch off updates indefinitely?

Thanks Sesanchez . . but those steps don't work in Windows 10 Pro . . you can only postpone updates in 10.

Would love to see a screen shot from Win10 showing something different,

thanks,

Hello Everyone

I have the same problem P3D crash only with Flyinside.

i try deleting

del C:\Users\User1\Documents\"Prepar3D v3 Files"\*.* /Q
del C:\Users\User1\AppData\Roaming\"Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3"\Prepar3D.cfg
del C:\Users\User1\AppData\Roaming\"Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3"\Prepar3D.cfg.tmp
del C:\Users\User1\AppData\Roaming\"Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3"\prepar3d_FlyInside.cfg

my Windows 10 is fresh installation and all P3D too.

I un-install Flyinside 1.81 and try with 1.8 but the same problem, sometimes all is right but when put the licence P3Dcrash again.

My problem, I believe was caused my the latest Windows Update.

I used to be able to come into my 'home' base and favorite aircraft, VRS Superbug, but so that it doesn't crash,
I let it start with the default aircraft, the F-22 and at Elgin AFB.

My startup procedure is:
Start Oculus Tray Tool (which starts Oculus Home Page)
Start Flyinside, change airport, then change aircraft
Start CCP and or FSX@War, set my mission
Then put the VR goggles on, adjust my seat and go fly

It works 99% of the time
Thanks for everyone's input,
Chopper

Well yes and no..you actually can turn off updates with Windows 10 but its not as easy as it was on other OS. However, they do offer a way to hide an update which allows one to keep updates on and not let that one that is causing all the crashes to install. that is the way I went and am very happy with the results even though I am missing out on that update and whateve it did other than make my FS world hell for 24 hours.

Same issue here. Tried everything I could think of! FlyInside works OK in X-Plane 11 though. Could it have something to do with the last Win10 (unsolicitaded...)update?
