no plane and odd sky

Postby Whachoowillis » Sat Dec 16, 2017 8:22 pm

I just downloaded FlyInside and started using it in Demo mode to see if I want to buy it. But whenever I start it up, I get a view that is missing the cockpit and has a strange redraw in the sky. I can move the hands around and I see the tooltips appear for the flight controls that *should* be there. And even when I switch to an outside camera, I see my plane's shadow but not the plane itself.

I am running P3D v4.0
I have FlyInside P3D4 Pro 1.9 - for Prepar3D v4 64-bit
I have a couple add-ons (ORBX scenery, REX clouds, ChasePlane, ActiveSky)
I have this both in the stock planes (like the Mooney Acclaim) and 3rd party planes

Anything that people can think to share would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome mate, could you uninstall chaseplane and see if that fixes your issue ?

thank you very much for the quick reply, Tony. I sincerely appreciate it.

I uninstalled ChasePlane... but sadly, I still have the same result.

Have you tried either updating to p3d v4.1 or rolling back to the previous Flyinside? Plus are you using pta2.6 or another other shaders ? If yes then reset them to default and restart. Plus can you please post your system specs and win version for us ?

I have not yet updated to P3D v4.1 or tried rolling back. I don't know if I can roll back because I have downloaded the demo (and don't know where I could download a previous version).

I do not have pta2.6 or any other shaders.

Here are my system specs (copy-and-paste'd from my original order confirmation):

Chassis Model: Corsair Carbide Quiet 400Q
Processor: Intel Core i7 6800K 3.4GHz (6-Core) (Unlocked CPU)
Motherboard: ASUS X99-A II (Intel X99 Chipset)
System Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz
Power Supply: 750W EVGA SuperNOVA (750 B1)
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD (250GB Samsung 850 EVO)
Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (1TB Seagate / Toshiba)
Wireless: PCI-E ASUS PCE-N15 (Supports 802.11n/g/b)
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce GTX 1080 8GB (NVIDIA Founders Edition) (VR Ready)
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio
Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 120mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler
CPU Boost: Stage 1: Overclock CPU - Up to 4.4GHz
Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (64-Bit Edition)

...and I have recently done a round of updates for NVIDIA, the motherboard, the BIOS, and Windows.

If worse comes to worst, I will try this with X-Plane. I have bought both apps. But I prefer P3D and would really like to be able to use my Oculus headset with that sim. But if I can get FlyInside to work with X-Plane, I might just say "X-Plane is for VR... and P3D is for monitor"

thanks. Sorry to make you copy-and-paste that suggestion into my thread as well.

- I've attached the log file
- I've updated my signature in the requested format
- I have deleted the Shaders folder and restarted (but that did not fix it)
- my Oculus is plugged directly into the HDMI port on my 1080
- I would list my plug-ins... but I am afraid that I did not understand when you said 'Plugins can be found in "".'

the good news is that FlyInside works great with my X-Plane installation. So I know that there is not anything fundamentally wrong with my computer. I just need to figure out what is up with P3D... and hopefully find a solution that does not include a complete uninstall/reinstall of my sim.

I sincerely appreciate all of your time and assistance. Please let me know if there are any other bits of information that I can provide or other things you would like for me to try. The only thing that you have mentioned that I have not done yet is upgrading from P3D v4.0 to v4.1. I will give that a go -- but any other suggestions are welcome.

Heya :)

Yeah, please try the suggestion from Tony if you have time. Since I am no pro in P3D I will ask Tony if he has anything in mind yet. Thanks for your kind response!

Aha! I finally tracked down the culprit. It was REX Texture Direct (Enhanced Edition). I chose the option to restore all my ground and cloud textures back to what they were before installation (which basically goes back to 'default' without uninstalling the app). I then launched my SIM and it all looks perfect. I think that you can now close out this ticket as "fixed".

I'm going to be buying the P3D version today to go along with my X-Plane purchase of FlyInside. Thank you very much for making my sims more immersive.
