New user help - FI crashing [SOLVED]

Postby Tedmax » Fri Dec 22, 2017 10:34 pm

I am posting this for a friend as he can't seem to post to the forum.

He has just got his HTC Vive and is trying to get FI working with XP11.10 but he is getting a "Failed to compile shader" error and hasn't been able to get FI working at all.

CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690 CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
Graphics Card - GTX 1070
Win Version - 10
RAM - 8 GB (7.89 Usable)
FI Version - FlyInside XP Pro 1.91 - for X-Plane (Beta) -- From this link: https://flyinside-fsx.com/Download
XP Version - 11.10
Nvidia Version - GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 388.71

Help would really be appreciated.

The problem, I think, is that the onboard motherboard graphics card is still enabled and the monitor was connected to that via VGA. I have advised to:

1. Disable the onboard graphics in bios
2. Connect the monitor to the 1070 via a VGA to DVI cable
3. Ensure both monitor and Vive are on the 1070

This will probably fix it. I will report back once he contacts me again.
