DCS World 2.5 open beta

Postby Greyman » Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:16 am

I downloaded this last night, or more accurately, I started downloading this last night and it finished, just, this morning.

I have yet to have the time to start it up, but wondered if anyone here had tried it yet and wanted to share their thoughts?

i've just been flying around doing an instant action, "easy" a10c mission over the Caucasus terrain.

As i had modules in each of the 1.5.8 and 2.2 previous modules, i was well impressed by the fact that all of them automatically appear as activated in 2.5.

The graphics look to be a little on the bright side, but they move along pretty quickly and the new trees look pretty good. i will have to have a tweak of the graphics settings to get it to my liking, but so far i have been impressed.

it'll give me a bit of a break from my FF A320 world tour. I've done 41 legs now and sitting at Santa Cruz, Bolivia. I've only got 111 legs to do :)

Downloading from 2.2 to 2.6........not a typo, on 2.6 now.......used a trick to fool 2.2 alpha that it was a beta.....only 15 gigs to go ;)

It's the updater that gets updated to 2.6. DCS World itself is still at 2.5 :) but you're such a fantastic bloke Tony, so awesome :)

I was starting to get worried about dementia then, as I couldn't remember typing that at all. :)

I've just been trying to fly a "simple" refueling mission and i am thinking of taking the developer to trading standards. :)

I've spent over an hour and only managed to connect a couple of times, for a few litres of fuel and then lost the connection again.

Damn, refueling is hard to do. :(

I've just been flying the P51d Mustang and that is a fun. the air to air gun sight can actually predict the impact point, so that you don't have to lead. However, you do need to set the wingspan and range of your target pretty accurately for it to work, but it is good fun. 6 x .50" calibre cannons aren't very friendly to the target when you get it right :)
