Considering the length of the extension you purchased you may be ok. You have not gone full length which means you won't have such dramatic throw at the grip. It's when you mount the base on the floor and try and get the grip above your knees that the problems are really apparent.

I have a wheelstand pro which will allow me to lower the base of the stick, by at least 20cm, so I should be good to mount the joystick so that the handle is more or less at the same height as it currently is.

I am a little concerned about the additional forces, at the gimble, that might be caused by the longer lever, but I don't do many rapid movements with the aircraft I fly, so it should be good.

oooooo, an extra 20cm does make a difference :)

Just tried out that extension and it really does change the helicopter flying experience for the better. OK, so it doesn't turn an incompetent pilot into an expert, but it does make it clear that i have not been making it easy for myself, by using a heavily self-centred joystick as a cyclic.

What will be interesting is whether i will need to remove the extension when i want to fly fixed-wing aircraft again.

I am really starting to like the Warthog, so precise !!!! I have just flown the Just Flight Hawk in Red Arrows colours for an hour on max resolution in p3d V4 and WOW :o Plus if you max out the null zones to have it real twitchy then you get an idea how heli pilots fly......they think the stick movements........real finesse mate :)

Glad to see the extension is working out for you Greyman. Try to position the stick so your forearm rests on your leg while flying. It will anchor your arm and make precise movements so much easier -just like pilots do it in real helicopter flight.

I've just starting using WT3 and the helicopter is the best aircraft to observe all of those traffic movements. The airports just come alive and being able to hover and move around quickly to watch aircraft taxi, land and take off is really handy.

If you haven't gone for it yet and particularly if you are in the UK, the pound is quite strong against the dollar, so it only costs around £22, so it is a really good buy.

You can even set it up so that the WT3 generated traffic shows up on the TCAS of XP11 aircraft that have it fitted.

The ATC isn't much use though, as you can only view the instructions and use the menu from the Sim window and not the cockpit. However, the next release will be compatible with Pilot2ATC, which will work in a virtual window and more excitingly, has voice recognition built in.

Good times to be a simmer \o/

Small addition to this post: If you already bought WT2 you get the update either for free or for a discount price of 10USD. :)
