Has anyone received one of these yet? I'm curious to see if you're happy (samsung in particular) and considering an order...I believe they were all supposed to be out by first week of Nov?

THANKS!

I just got my Samsung HMD in the mail Friday

Just finished installing it. Biggest installation issue was the installation of Controllers.

I had to purchase a Bluetooth module for desktop and it took me a few tries to figure out drivers and installation protocol/process for Windows mixed reality controllers

Once I got a few hours with a few games I'll PM you with synopsis if you want

Anxious to hear reports on the Samsung Odyssey. Has Dan received his yet? Really wondering if the extra resolution will make a big enough difference to justify upgrading from my Rift.

Thanks for the link, Tony.

To summarize for anyone unwilling to watch a 40 min review video:

PROS:
The Samsung stands out for high-resolution ("no screen door effect unless you really look for it" and "feels like a 1080p display") and convenience (no sensors in the room, just plug in HDMI and USB and go)

CONS:
Requires bluetooth for controllers and many desktops lack BT.

Conclusion:
As or almost as good as the vive in terms of build quality, comfort, brightness, colors; its "better than all other current headsets" including oculus, but on par with Vive except in terms of resolution where samsung excels.

For me, I'm still going to wait to see how it performs in P3Dv4.1 as that's my main interest. Particularly in terms of gauge legibility - is this resolution good enough? I feel like 1600p is a sweet spot. Going higher will kill sim performance using today's hardware, but less is clearly not good enough...

THANKS!

Canuck4ever, would be great if you can share your experience here. Have you tried your Odyssey with FI or with P3Dv4? I am really interested to hear if the extra resolution is worth upgrading from my Rift.

Thanks.

Cannot wait to be proved wrong but all the reviews I've seen are saying its just a sideways move from the rift and vive. Some better bits and other worse bits. Looking forward to someone giving us a review here ???
