intermittent pauses bringing me back to fi menu

Postby August78 » Thu Jul 21, 2016 9:54 am

Why do i sometimes get brought back into the fi menu? It seems like fi is waiting for the sim or something. It happens randomly, so etimes many times in a row, other times it can go a long time before it happens.

Same Here!! Please help this is very bothersome.

At this moment we can entirely fly in FI. But the software is very stress prone because of bugs like this one ... Please share some information about potential fixes...

Hi
I find if I can keep my head very still I can get back in. It may be a loss of tracking when the frames drop too much

Yep, happens to me as well. I think it's performance related. I noticed a while back that a few of my cores spiked to 100 with fairly regular intervals, and it was FSX.exe that was spiking. If your settings are high enough, it will cause a freeze of the simulator long enough for FlyInside to think you have stopped flying and pop back to the cloudscreen. I Haven't been able to find a fix, other than turning settings way down.

Hey guys, trying to piece together information from multiple threads, so apologies if I'm repeating myself. For those of you running into the intermittent pause, are you seeing these on the betas I've linked around the forum, or on 1.52?

Also, do you still see them with traffic turned off? Finally, does lowering auto-gen make any difference?

Sorry to bombard with questions, I desperately want to reproduce this on my development machine to track down the cause!

Dan,

I am running in to this problem as well. I am only able to get the pauses to stop if I: Turn all traffic off (I have been using approx. 10% commercial traffic and minimum airport traffic), lower the resolution to the second highest option in FI, and adjust various graphics sliders to slightly lower positions. I am not sure why this is causing such an issue though, as my frame rates and CPU/GPU loads don't seem to be affected much. My frames are staying at or above 30/90. I also tried tinkering with nvidia display panel options with little success. Tracking is still working when I get returned to the menu as well - the cockpit view in the menu window still tracks with my head. It seems like if I move my head around a bit or try to cycle the zoom option I get returned to the cockpit faster, but that could be a placebo effect.

I am still using the last full release 1.52 as the 1.6 release was causing me new fatal errors/CTDs. I have not been able to try the 1.6 beta that you posted on another thread yet.

Hi, I get this exact problem a fair amount. I usually get it maybe two or three times during an hour flight. The time spent 'waiting for sim' usually ranges from less than a second to about five seconds for the longest. I don't think anything in particular is happening when I get it. The frame rate before and afterwards seems normal. My guess is that it could just be a temporary stutter in the framerate as I used to get these when I originally started non-VR FSX. I probably don't notice them when flying on the monitor, but obviously in FI it's a big change coming out of VR temporarily.

I don't think this is a hardware tracking issue, because when I definitely get tracking issues (by covering the sensors on the Vive) I get the usual grey-blue blank screen, which I think I get with all games.

This is a bug in 1.52, fixed in 1.6. Please do report if you see this bug on 1.6.

I'll be releasing FlyInside 1.61 ASAP, but let me know how that beta works once you get a chance to try it out.
