P3d, resolution and antialiasing

Postby gagagu » Thu Sep 01, 2016 4:32 am

Hi,
i'm using FI with my HTC Vive and P3D (newest version) and i love it!!!!

What i don't like is that i don't able to read the gauges or display clearly on C172 or PMDG 737 because of the vive resolution or pixel density.
That's the reason why i'm using FI with the resolution of 4320 x 2400 (double resolution set on FI ini) and max antialiasing settings. With that settings the cockpit instruments reading is acceptable for me (but could more better if possible).
Althrough i'm using two gtx980ti's the framerate damatically down (of cource by using such a high resolution). On PMDG 737 with all graphic settings on P3D down i will get a max of 30-40fps. With good settings on P3D i will get max of 20 fps and stuttering.

Do you have ome tipps for me how to get a good view to the cockpit instruments with a high framerate on sli?

Glad you like it! At the end of the day, you'll need to turn down settings some to run at 4320x2400. I'd recommend trying a lower (but still) high resolution like 3840x2133, and turning down MSAA if it's on. It should be just about as readable, but uses only 80% the pixels. The PMDG is a really heavy CPU hitter btw, so even dual 980 Tis might not give you super high FPS if you are hitting CPU limits.
