Hi, I am running pretty much the same rig as the OP. I am on the latest drivers and they are the best so far IMHO. I am not getting freezing or any other anomalies.

I always start SteamVRbeta first then, AS16, then FI. I don't have any mods to P3D config and I have removed all the ORBX stuff. One thing that had me pulling my hair out was affinity. I had a program that was handling it that caused all sorts of issues and once it was uninstalled everything was sweet. I also don't have any affinity set in the config.

Maybe this won't help you but it isn't the driver I don't think.

New drivers (375.57) didn't fix anything, issue is still persisting for me.

I am not sure what you want Dan to fix as it is working for others with 1080s. When you updated your driver did you use DDU - Display Driver Uninstaller? Unless you use it the old driver is not fully removed.

yes i have tried that software it might be working for you but a lot of others that run addons like orbx and stuff are having the same problems. Have you tried runing it with orbx like others?? if so did you get freezing ?? maybe its a combination of the new drivers and orbx that is the problem.

It must be incredibly frustrating when it freezes. I have been down that road, not with freezing but CTD. I spent hours and hours trying various things when I first got the Vive (even took a day off work lol ) and was almost ready to go back to non VR thinking that the Vive driver or FI was completely unstable.

So I thought I had nothing to loose and uninstalled everything including the driver. I began to take one step at a time - Nvidia latest driver then latest P3D. Test OK after two short flights, no CTD. Then FI - again two flights - all working no CTD. Really happy at this point as I knew I had fixed it. It was at this point I found *my* problem which was to do with a program to control process affinity. I also moved my lighthouses which fixed the apparently random loss of the renderer due to loosing sight of the headset.

I did reinstall FTX global, vector and lots of ORBX airports but it really cost a lot in frames especially as my non-negotiable software is AS16. So I have gone back to vanilla and will wait for the Rex HD airports and give that a shot. With VR I am more concerned with flying now than with eye candy. The P3D rendering of regions is OK for me and it does have major roads even in country Victoria Australia for VFR flying.

I can assure you that my GTX 1080 with the latest driver and FI 1.62 do work reliably well together.

All the best with your troubleshooting
