Performance in ATW

Postby Matthias1344 » Sat May 14, 2016 9:21 am

Hello

I am curious if somebody could help me with my problem.

My rig:
Oculus cv1
I7 4790k @ 4.6ghz
16gb ddr3
Zotac 980ti oc
Windows 10 64 bit
Samsung evo 850

My Setup:
P3d v3.2
Orbx Global World
ASN
Rex Td with soft clouds
Pmdg
A lot of addon airports

Without Oculus i get Around 60 fps nearly everywhere Even with the Pmdgs
In flyinside there arme 2 possibilites:

With atm Slow i get Around 25fps/ stable 90fps
With atm fast i get Around 35 to 45fps / very unstable 15-75fps in ATW

What Settings are recommended with my Setup

I have the Resolution at the highest or Second highest setting possible.
Antialiasing at the highest cause it Makels no difference in frames.

Other than that i Love flyinside. It is something i dreamed of the First Time I got a flighstim.

Greetings Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Bear in mind that in VR your computer is having to render two sets of images so there is likely to be quite a difference in frame rates between VR and non VR flights. As your figures show you ideally need 90 ATW FPS on the CV1.

In my experience the first thing to consider dropping would be autogen, scenery complexity and traffic settings as they seem to have the biggest effect, on my rig at least. In P3D I also find the lighting/shadows options can have quite a hit. You'll need to experiment to find what works best for you, as it's quite subjective.

I find it useful to save my graphics settings to a file so I have one set for low level VFR in simple aircraft, a set for multiplayer, one set with lower settings for more demanding aircraft and so on.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!
