FSX - Waiting for Simulator?

Postby jimh20 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:39 pm

Hi,

I seem to have fouled up again! I decided to have a look at FSX following the addon airport situation in P3D v3.3. FSX opened up, I got into Flyinside, I took off the Rift to activate, forgot I had changed my password, and Flyinside closed down.
Now I can start Flyinside, press any joystick key, get the FSX window although it is not responding to the Rift, and fly in the window with the Waiting for Simulator Banner on my left.

I'm sorry to have been so stupid, but what do I do now?

Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim I'd suggest deleting you fsx.cfg in the appdata/fsx folder and also deleting your flyinside cfg under appdata/flyinside if that makes sense ? Then restart fsx but you'll have to bind all your keys again :)

Thanks, Tony, but I don't seem to have a flyinside.cfg, at least not at appdata\roaming\flyinside.
P3D is still working ok, but I expect that's irrelevant.

Did you install flyinside to its default path? It should be in the FlyInside folder under appdata/roaming/flyinside ?

I installed Flyinside into D:\, which is my Flight Sim folder. I try to avoid installing into C:\ if at all possible.

If this is wrong can you tell me how to clean all trace of Flyinside for FSX from the computer to start again?

Please Sir, all I did was to enter the wrong password. Honestly!! :(

You sound like me lol sticky finger syndrome :D OK follow the path into d/user/yourname/appdata/roaming/flyinside. Or change the d drive for the c drive? If you still cannot locate it then uninstall flyinside and when you re install it make sure it's pointed correctly at your FSX install path. Try that and report back lol

Hi Tony,

I uninstalled both Flyinside for FSX and for P3D, followed by the Flyinside folder in appdata\roaming.

I rebooted, then installed Flyinside for P3D. The installation went as I remembered, and P3D is working again in the Rift.

I did likewise with Flyinside for FSX, installing once again into the root directory, this time of FSX-SE.
I started Flyinside for FSX, got the thank you screen in the Rift, entered the correct password and all seemed ok.
I got into FSX-SE, setup a flight, got the Flyinside starter image in the Rift, pressed a joystick button, and once again got a big FSX window which did not respond to movement of the Rift but did respond to stick and throttle, while over to the left was the brown banner, "Waiting for Simulator".

What next?

This sounds like you may have found a bug mate ??? I see you have 3 monitors, are they all plugged in ? Any instance of triple head to go on your system ?

Could you email Dan and see what he says mate ?

This situation has an uncanny resemblance to my experience with P3D.
Then it was solved by a complete uninstall of all addons followed by a clean install of P3D. Note that P3D v3.3 is ok right now.
At present we are working with a brand new clean install of FSX-SE.

I've tried an install of Flyinside FSX 1.52. I got the following message:

Unable to execute file
Create process failed. Code 740
The requested operation requires elevation.

I checked that FlyinsideFSX.exe had been created, but the end result was as before.

P.S. I do have a triple head but it was eliminated before, and I'm flying P3D delightedly in the Rift
