Anyone use a GTN 750?

Postby jimh20 » Thu Jun 09, 2016 5:44 pm

Hi,
In preparation for flying "blind" in the Rift I bought a GTN 750 to help with navigation. During the wait I found it a really useful tool to have in the cockpit.
I've had a first flight with it tonight in the Rift. I know I'm trying to learn from scratch how to do things in Flyinside and may be making a mess of things, but I can't resize properly the 750 window. It remains tall and thin, not the best shape for a Northern flight and impossible for a Western course.

Does anyone else have one, and if so could they help me get it to a useful shape and size?

Thanks, Jim

I also use the GTN750 (inside the RealAir Lancair Legacy most of the time)

Whenever I open the GTN window its tall and skinny, but I always just grab the white arrow on the right side of the blue Fly-Inside border and stretch it in width. For me it doesn't dynamically drag wider very well, I just pull the arrow....it flashes a couple of times....then I get a wider view that stays until I change aircraft or exit the sim. I suppose there is a way somewhere in the config to set up a default width when you bring it up.

Are you seeing the arrows on the border edges?

I really like the touch screen features of the GTN750 and this works very well with the rift and mouse control. Scroll wheel even zooms the GPS in and out.

Whenever I click to resize, it takes me to the desktop view. I think some better resizing controls are definitely needed.

Hi,
Last night, when I tried to drag the side arrow, it moved the 750 window slightly but seemed to be elastic and just snapped back. This morning the window is resizing to any size I want. Hopefully it will be ok from now on.

I'm a beginner, just feeling my way. Do you happen to know if the transparency of windows like the 750's can be adjusted? I'd like the transparency reduced quite a bit.

Thanks, Jim

I don't know of a way to adjust the transparency, but I just leave my mouse cursor in the corner of the window and it stays fully opaque. As soon as you move the mouse out of the window it goes back to about 50% transparent.

Thanks, Aerohead, parking the cursor does the job quite nicely!

Cheers, Jim

I still haven't got the hang of quickly resizing with the Leap Motion, and every time I go into the menu this moves back to an inconvenient location and is frustrating to have to move again.

I'd really appreciate a way we can save / remember the size and position of the GTN (and other) pop-outs. With the Leap Motion this is so close to being awesome as it makes tuning the radios (which matter on pilotedge) so much quicker. Oh, and +1 for a way to adjust the transparency.

Cheers,

Ian
