How to set resolution?

Postby slipstream » Mon Jul 11, 2016 9:14 am

I have FSX SE working fine in my rift, but I cannot see how to set the resolution or any other settings. FSX is set to 1024/768 which is obviously wrong. Am I not meant to have a window available whilst in-game to allow me to change stuff? Thanks in advance for any help.

Set the highest resolution in both which your system will allow. I use 3840x 1024 in FSX/P3D, and the highest setting in Flyinside. That gives me a better view than the lower settings my previous graphics card would allow.

Good Luck, Jim

Jim,
I was not aware that the settings in FSX/P3D made any difference in the HMD. I thought the only setting that mattered was the resolution that the user selects in FlyInside. Are you saying that the settings in FSX/P3D do make a difference?
Thanks.

Hi All,

The proper way to set resolution is as follows:
  • Press your "Interact" button so that the FlyInside Tag appears.
  • Look at the big blue "Menu" button and press Interact again.
  • Look at "Settings" and press Interact to go to the FlyInside Settings tab.
  • Use the interact button on this screen to change the resolution. You want to use FlyInside Settings to change HMD resolution rather than any simulator setting.,

Hope that helps :)

Thanks,

Thanks all. I tried upping the res within fsx only to receive a fatal error, restart. I upped to the max within flyinside which is 3840x 1024 AFAIK, and that made a huge difference to the overall look of the graphics.

I'm wondering now how to set the AA settings? I have AA ticked within FSX, but should I untick now and set within flyinside settings? Which one overrides which??

Thanks, Dan, for putting us right.

The advice I had from elsewhere was wrong about the Sim setting, sorry. I've now set minimum resolution in P3D, I see no worsening in the Rift, and there appears to be some freeing up of resources. :)

Cheers, Jim
