FSX SE continues 'running' after exit.

Postby slipstream » Wed Jul 13, 2016 1:42 am

If I exit from FSX to do other stuff, or because of an error, it is impossible to restart the sim as steam states that it is already 'RUNNING'. FSX is not visible in task manager in order to shut down manually so I have to restart PC each time, and wait an age for it to load up again.

This only happens when starting via Flyinside.

Could anyone provide any help on this as its driving me mad and taking up lots of valuable time.

Do you have any add on modules that run as a separate .exe file? I have seen this before when using AI Carriers. The AI Carriers exe carries on running and I cant restart FSX until I manually close it.

You can go into TaskManager and kill the FSX.EXE process. That's usually sufficient, no reboot required. To me it happens so often that I made a .bat-file with the command taskkill fsx.exe.

Thanks for your help. What I do now is instead of exiting via FSX I kill the program via Task Manager. That way Steam allows me to restart without a system reboot.
