Performance FSX vs P3D

Postby FlyInsideFan » Thu Aug 18, 2016 8:58 pm

On a single GPU (non SLI) system, typically, what is the performance difference between FSX and P3D when using flyinside?

I have always thought that FSX would give the higher FPS, but has that situation changed?

I would suggest that FSX SE is far better in terms of performance.

I'm not sure if I'm 'going against the grain' but from my experience P3D is heads and shoulders above FSX/FSX:SE in terms of performance when using VR. I get around half the frames in FSX that I do in P3D!!!

Same experience here......might be due to differing addons and people's mileage may vary.

Same here.. Went from FSX to P3Dv3, performance is far better! No .cfg tweaks at all, and it runs smooth.. I'm using REX, FTX Global, Vector and LC, aswell as FTX Norway, Pago Pago, Narvik, FlyTampa StMarteen, Ultimate Traffic 2 and Aerosoft airports and Austria HD scenery.. I even run it at 5k resolution without problem.. Locking the frames to 45, half of 90 to reduce judder and lag.. It's was a game changer for me.

Nearly all of the problems posted on here are P3D users.

P3D v2.5 had lot more bugs than 3.3.5 (3.3.5 has bugs too like slower memory release). But for SLI systems P3D 3.3.5 is the way to go.

Use the sim which makes you happy. That is the most important part (sometimes we simmers forget that and get to focused on the technicals). If you are happy with Flyinside with FSX then FSX is your sim. For me FSX-SE never worked that good (and i have some specific p3d addons) - I have to stick with p3d b/c of my investment in the products.
