Related to the 1080 in SLI and also stuttering..

I too have the issue on panning, but it seems limited to when i have the two 1080s in SLI mode.. panning is not smooth.. i cant seem to fix things. Almost given up on SLI at this point.. tried clean drivers, removing /reinstalling flyinside.. nothing fixes it. (I also get all 3 of my lcds flashing on and off when p3d is launched in sli mode, i assume this is just normal and not related).

I'm on the latest nvidia driver.'

For those with pan stuttering.. do you run SLI (980 or 1080 etc)?

Why are you trying to run sli in VR? It increases latency and adds zero performance. In some cases it will give worse performance.

When i ran a single 1080 ftw hybrid and tried to enable 4xSGSS, this would cause the ATW value to dip to 60 or less, even with the sim fps being 30.. ie: 30/60..
When i did this same test with sli enabled.. atw stayed right at 90, no loss in performance in that regard.

Yeah overall, sim fps wise there wasnt much of a change..

Unless there is some way to fix the single 1080 4SGSS issue ? I was under the impression with the SLI now being an option in flyinside, it would work well with a dual 1080 setup.. perhaps this is the source of the pan stuttering then?

Having 4SGSS made a big difference with shimmering and jaggies.

I tried to just disable sli in control panel.. the head pan stuttering is still present.. if i recall correctly, i think earlier, removing the second card was the only fix.

I'm seeing there is new support from Nvidia for per eye gpu (vrworks i think its called) but it comes from the rendering engine and isnt fully supported out there yet..

I also now realize i think i needed the $39 0 slot HB link adapter rather than the ribbon.. i had two ribbons on, i think only 1 was really working.. to get the extra bandwidth it requires one of these sli link adapters.. i have one coming.. i'm going to retest and see if the pan stuttering goes away or the fps go up.

Hello,

I had this issue and fixed it by locking the framerate in the Graphics settings of FSX, and P3D. I think currently my frames are locked to 43 FPS and getting 40 / 93 in VR. I hope this helps. (only, obviously if your frame rates are currently on unlimited).

Thank you for the tip. It's much better witch locked FPS but it's still a very, very bad experience (GTX 1080, i5-4670K@4,4GHz).

In my case, the ground judder or micro stuttering when i look out the left window and watch the ground (twitch), may actually be related to the ATW rate dropping below 90.. ie: 67, 76, 85.. if i leave the window up that shows the fps.. and stare at the ground, in the corner of my eye i see it go from the initial 93 or so to those lower numbers.. This at the 3840 x 2374 resolution with unlimited frames (setting to a limit of say 46 didnt help much).
Perhaps mine is different than "cockpit stuttering" though.

The actual frame rate is something like 60/90 initially.. very frustrating, all on the 1080 ftw hybrid. (single card as of now)

Update: i decided to try the frame rate lock once more.. i tried at first to put it in nvidia NI.. but for some reason it doesnt affect p3d.. so i changed p3d's slider to 48.. my frame rate on driver 368.81 (i rolled back, some said this looked better at the highest resolution in flyinside).. was showing 65 or so in NYCX scenery (i'm not sure how, before i was averaging 46).. at any rate.. after setting the limiter to 48, its now smooth looking out the window and atw stays 90+ (so far)

Just a side note, that as far as SLI i goes, it really truly does not help, at least not with the 1080.. it induces head turning pan stuttering.. so for me ill live with the fps limiter setting fixing the the ground micro stuttering and a single card for now..

I received the SLI HB Evga adapter today (i had ribbons before).. short story is, no change, the hb didnt help with head turning/panning stuttering.. neither does frame rate lock at any level.

Also.. when you use SLI + 4SGSS + rain (at least rain / clouds), the sim frame rate stays the same, but the ATW drops to 30-40! yikes.
So as of this writing it appears the 1080 SLI idea is a no go.. will just have to live with no SGSS and semi low frame rate in some areas with 3 layers of clouds + rain (18-25 fps worst case).
