P3D: Artifacts on the side edges

Postby jamesp111 » Tue Oct 11, 2016 6:28 am

Hi,

I've been trying Flyinside with P3D v3.3 and in general it works great, however I do have one problem:

Often there is a thin vertical strip on the sides of my view. It feels like a few degrees of vision in the HMD has been lost. The vertical strip seems to consist of horizontal lines, but it seems to come and go with movement so to see it on purpose I feel like I need to chase it around.

I thought this could possibly be Flyinside or P3D struggling to render the very edge quickly enough, but I don't think that's it as this still happens at the lowest graphics settings, and I'm getting very smooth performance then. It also never happens at all in any other VR app (DCS World, some racing games etc).

My computer is
i5 2500k @ 4.3Ghz
GTX 1080
1TB SSD
16GB ram

Software:
Windows 10 Pro
P3D 3.35 I think
Rex 4
Most orbx products
Nvidia drivers 373.06 (though this also happened with the release before that)

Has anyone else seen this before? I realise I could try rolling back the nvidia drivers to 368(?) but I need the newer version so I wanted to check first if this sounds like the driver problems people have experienced or something else?

Thanks!

Try and video it if you can ? Sounds like a long time bug that is part of p3d rendering. Is it Blue in places ? I get that line in fsx, especially flying the Trike.

Hi Martin, did you try calibrating it.
-> Options" menu
FOV Overdraw - Higher values increase overall FOV and peripheral vision, but at the expense of making everything slightly blurrier. Decreasing FOV crisps up the display, but results in tunnel vision

I get the same thing when I tried the new ASW. Any chance you have activated that?

I'll try disabling ASW (I have enabled it but thought I had this beforehand) and changing the overdraw to see if it helps
