Problem with SLI (Fatal Error)

Postby petlon » Fri Oct 14, 2016 8:14 pm

Hello,

Flyinside worked very well for me. To increase FPS I decided to add a further Graphics Card (a second msi Geforce GTX 1070 Gaming X) to use it in SLI mode.

Installation of the card and activation of SLI mode was successful. But flyinside is coming with the error

FlyInside Fatal Error Encountered (W:0)
c.\projects\fshook\floatui\View.h: Line 81

When I switch off SLI-mode in Nvidia System control, everything is fine. So I think, there is a problem with flyinside and SLI.

Crash-log is attached.

My specs:

i7-4770K @4.10 GHz / 8 GB RAM / msi Z87-G45 Gaming / 2 * msi Geforce GTX 1070 Gaming X with SLI connection / Win 7/64 / newest Drivers
P3d v3 / flyinside 1.62

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Peter

Hi mate , Flyinside does not support the Rift and SLI at the moment, may get implemented later down the line :)

Hi Tony,

thanks for your quick answer.

So I misunderstood somethung :

VR SLI

FlyInside 1.6 adds VR SLI support to FlyInside P3D. If you have multiple NVIDIA GPUs configured for SLI, VR SLI support will activate automatically in Prepar3D. While VR SLI doesn't provide much of a frame-rate boost at the moment, it results in more stable frame-rates, a smoother experience, and more robust asynchronous timewarp. We'll continue to implement advanced GPU apis in the future, and attempt to improve the performance provided by VR SLI.

Cheers

Oops ignore me, Yes SLI is supported now, I'm behind the times :) Hmmm not sure whats causing this. How do you have you monitor and rift plugged in ? to the one card ? Are you planning on getting Win 10 soon or are you staying with Win 7 ?

Hi Tony,

Monitor and Rift are plugged in in the first card as before.

Normally I would prefer to stay at Win 7 for the next time. Do you think, Win 10 would solve the Problem ?

Hi Peter, I'm not going to answer that as I don't want to get into trouble :) win 10 is better in a lot of areas but I'll let someone who actually uses win 10 and sli reply to your question ;) anyone ?

Hi Peter,

You're actually hitting a timing bug that I've been trying to track down for ages :o It's only a coincidence that SLI is making it happen for you. Can you shoot me an e-mail, dan@flyinside-fsx.com, and link this thread/issue?

Thanks,

Hi,

I have good news and bad news regarding my SLI problem.

The good news is that FI is now working in SLI mode since NVIDIA driver 376.09

The bad news is that I have only 25/90 FPS with SLI active instead of 43/90 without SLI on the default P3D airport and plane.
This was not the Intention when adding a second GTX 1070

Any ideas ?

Cheers

I was considering adding a second 980ti to my rig. Think I'll sit tight to see how this plays out. That's a chunk of change to lay out to just add headaches. Good luck.
