External views, notification text, menus and VATSIM?

Postby theother1 » Mon Oct 17, 2016 1:20 pm

Hi

I'm new to Oculus, Flyinside and P3D v3.

I could not find any information about this, so I'm asking to make sure I haven't missed anything:

Is it possible to have any external views in VR or even walk around outside the ac?

I can do "Locked Spot" and "Spot". First they look identical. What's the difference? Secondly this view does not allow me to adjust the height and distance. Is this somehow possible? By panning the headset I can pan around.

What I would like is an external view that likes me to see what's around me. Maybe also a "Top Down" view. I guess such a thing doesn't exist, right? This would be useful in combination with VATSIM to look at other aircraft that are no in front of the cockpit.

Secondly, I don't see any notification text (the text that scrolls at the top of the screen in a 2D monitor). How Do I see such information in VR? Right now I have to take off my headset, which is rather annoying.

I guess to operate the menus, I also have to take of my headset, right?

Finally, I can't see the labels on other aircraft when using VATSIM. Any idea?

Thanks!

Apparently, there are more people annoyed by the presence of those message windows when they are displayed than there are people that are annoyed by the lack of message windows when they are missing. In your AppData\Roaming\FlyInside folder you should find a file that allows you to switch these windows on and off by their window title.

Thanks, but this is why we can switch them on/off from within the options, no?
I don't mean any window but the small text strip on top. For example GSX will tell you if you haven't open a door when boarding etc. You also get messages from AC2016.

Why not just stay with this method?

I will give your suggestion a try later!

sure, but my question was actually more if these things exist and I didn't know...

If they don't, yes... would be nice.

I'm not talking about a window, but the 1-2 liner at the top of the screen that tells you for example in GSX that it needs you to open or close a door etc. With the headset I always hear a beep and have to take of the set to see what the message is. Not very cool. I know it's probably not easy to display that view in the VR environment, but would be nice to have eventually.

I actually found a few nice views in the third view category that work with VR. The one where you are at the back of the airplane, above the rudder lets you look around 360 degrees and the the view left and right of the wing is also good for seeing what's going on around you.

Now I can see what GSX is doing and where other planes are around me on the ground outside the limits of the cockpit view.

I told you how to do it. The file is called "settings_pro_FlyInside*_subwindow_rules.ini", change the flags for the windows you want to see from 1 to 0, start FlyInside, profit.

Great, I wasn't sure this is the same thing we are talking about. I will try it out later!
