CV 1 P3D v3.4 terrible frame rates

Postby Csnaviator » Mon Nov 07, 2016 8:40 pm

Hi everyone

I've just got my CV1 and grab a trial of FI. I'm suffering terrible frame rate and very jerky head movement.

My normal setup was 3x 27" with I7 4.6gz Devils Canyon and Gtx 970 16GB SSD 850 GB

I've used this setup on both P3D and FSX with most settings maxed out for some considerable time using nvidia surround at massive resolutions and getting approx 35-45 FPS normally. I always find that dropping the resolution resulted in poor performance.

Massive issue with P3D I'm only getting 12FPS and I've taken 2x 27" monitors off. FSX is just about usable
P3D is so bad and yet plays perfectly on my 27" and locks out at 60fps at 1080p. Put the CV1 in there and it grinds to a halt.

Could anyone shed any light on the potential problem. I've tried DCS and war thunder, they work great. Ive even turned the settings right down on P3D and still it's rubbish.

Thanks and much obliged for any assistance.

Have you checked the FPS display in the FlyInside popup in VR? Is the problem that P3D is rendering at a low rate, or that FlyInside is generating VR frames at a low rate?

Hi Mark

This is taken frame the FPS counter from the FI interface. It's quite strange as the Two FPS figures are very close together like 12/18.

I'm getting much better success with FSX steam edition

But I'm primarily a P3D user

Thanks

Lock your FPS in the GFX settings, mine is at 43 FPS and is now sweet. BR

I was getting numbers like 67/20 until someone suggested setting the frame limiter in P3D. I set that to 60 (as high as it would go) and was then getting around 60/90 in the same areas. It still goes much lower in other areas, but keeps outputting to the Rift at 90fps.

Hi

I've managed to address some issues. Firstly it appears the latest nvidia driver was a culprit. I've locked the FPS in p3d to 40 and I'm getting around 38/70 which is much better than it was. I can't seem to install drivers lower than 372.// I wanted to get back to 368.// to see if that made further improvements.

Thanks for your help guys, at least it's no playable most of the time

Regards
C
