Do Lessons Work?

Postby htm2112 » Sat Mar 25, 2017 11:31 pm

I am extremely impressed with FlyInside FSX, and it seems to work in Free Flight well. I have not gotten it to work with the Lessons built into FSX. Is that supported?

Yes they work well. What are your specs and windows version ? Also are you using boxed fsx or steam ?

Hi.
Most lessons are run in the 2d cabine. You need to switch to the 3d cab by pressing f9 after downloading the lesson.

This did not work and caused the same problem. Attached is a screenshot of what happened, as well as en error message and the crash log.

May I ask if you use any add-ons like ezdok or any other camera utility ? Plus are you using SteamVR?

I am not using ezdock or any other camera utility. Attached is a screenshot of the addons loaded from Steam. As to SteamVR, I have it installed on my machine but I only launch FlyInside by using the icon it installed on my desktop.

Can you try something quick for me ? If this doesn't work then I'll contact Dan on your behalf. Go to your fsx folder under appdata/roaming and locate the fsx.cfg for me. Save the file somewhere or rename it. Then restart fsx and let the config rebuild. Plus go into steam properties and revert back to standard steam and see how that goes. I'll pick this up in the morning as I'm off to bed ;)

I did as you said, going to C:\Users\Henry\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and renaming fsx.cfg to fsx-old.cfg and uninstalling SteamVR. I then started FlyInside and started a lesson. The lesson loads up first in 2d mode, so there is nothing in the rift. I pushed F9 to switch to 3d cockpit and got the familiar flashing in the rift.

Attached is a screenshot of what it looks like in the desktop window. As you can see, there is a dialog box in there. If you start the lesson outside of FlyInside, you can see that the dialog box just reads "Set your throttle to 3/4". It seems that anytime a dialog box is shown this error occurs. So when the lesson tells to to look at something or do something, the dialog box comes up and causes this problem.

Outside of a lesson, this same error occurs if you try and open up the ATC dialog box.

There is no issue with FlyInside so long as a dialog box is not accessed.
