There are two features that I miss at the present state of the art when siming with oculus and flyinside:
- freezing of the headtracking: it sounds just the opposite of the immersion we strive for but when programming the mcp it is a blessing; it is a feature in trackir and much appreciated, also much used
- the possibility of switching between vr and standard monitor flying: of course I would like to do everything inside the vr but at the moment some things are just much easier on the eyes, less tiring and frustrating and easier done the old fashioned way in front of the monitor rather then with the headset. It is awesome to be in and look around the 737 cockpit in vr, it is less awesome to prepare it for flight or be in it for two hours in cruise. I would appreciate the option to do that with the goggles off and then when it comes to taxiing stage, takeoff, climb, final descent and landing switch to vr - I see it as a temporary workaround before the hardware really catches up with the resolution, input devices and ease of wear. (PS: seriously thou, has anyone looked into what the prolonged use of headset does to our sight?)
cheers
