I think i know the answer to this one, given the miraculously short period of time until the "Holiday Season", but will this have been built from the ground up or will it be an evolution of FSX? If it is the latter, can we take it that it will be 64-bit?

Given that it says that it will work with FSX aircraft, i think i had better hold off buying any more for XPlane, at least until i can take a good look at this one. I actually have a few very nice FSX aircraft, that i haven't touched since XP11 came out, so this might turn the tables.

If it is going to have native VR, that would be a big plus for me, but only if the addon developers can get rid of the immersion-breaking features of their offerings that necessitate taking the headset off or switching to the FI Sim screen.

As for a suggestion for a name, how about "FlyInside Flight Simulator"? Not very imaginative i know, but it would do what it says on the tin and FFS might be appropriate if you don't get rid of the black screen bug. :)

Yes it will be 64 bit and yes, I believe it is built up from the ground, built with VR fluidity in mind :) FFS I like it !!! Not been given too many details yet so I can't answer about specific features and don't forget, holiday season in the USofA is from November onwards !!! LOL

It feels weird to say that the flight sim market is a busy one right now with so many to choose from. Good luck with the project and I hope you find your niche.

My 2 main questions regarding the new simulator is:

1. Does this mean development for the plugins for X-plane and P3d will cease once this simulator is live?

2. What are the biggest reasons a user should use this simulator vs one of the main, established sims? Its quite a task to take on an entire new simulator and dividing the community once more, especially with add-ons etc. Is this simulator directed more towards VR or just flight sim in general? If you were able to redesign the sim to better take advantage of multi-core, why couldn't XP or P3D do the same thing?

I do not mean any of these questions to be negative or attacking in any way, and since being a part of this community for a while now, I have full belief in Dan's ability, I am just curious to these questions. Thanks everyone.

If it is compatible with FSX addon planes out of the box that should make it very attractive to a large audience. How many flight simmers have a ton of these things sitting around gathering virtual dust. If I can plug in my A2A Spitfire and be flying around in smooth VR at 90fps over richly detailed scenery, then you might just be on to something.
