Flying Stations Buccaneers with Leap Motion

I'm relatively new to VR and FlyInside, but I'm a longtime user of P3D (currently v3.4). Having got used to VR+FI by flying terrestrially I've now moved back into my normal domain of maritime ops. I've had the Flying Stations Buccaneer S1 & S2 for years and now I'm trying to fly her with VR+FI+Leap Motion. I find the Buccaneers relatively heavy on FPS (hitting ~22 FPS when over the ocean with my OC 4.5 GHz CPU and 11Gb 1080ti GPU), which is disappointing, but a separate issue... What I'm also finding, which is the subject of this post, is it is incredibly difficult for me to operate many of the switches etc "by hand" using LM. This makes life very tricky, as the ability to switch certain things on/off relatively quickly is essential in the Bucc! The Blown Flaps switch is a classic example. I'm able to accurately "touch" the switch OK (it turns white and the tool tip appears) but try as I might I cannot get it to switch on!!! Raising the Pilot Attack Sight (PAS) is another example. Some switches are easier, but still tricky (e.g. switching on the Blue Parrot radar in the Observer's cockpit... but then changing the radar range using the dial has proved impossible for me!). All this compares to other aircraft switches, such as the flaps switch in Just Flight's Hawk, which are very easy to use.

I'd be interested to hear other's experiences and whether there is a fix...?

Hi Andy, god I love that Bucc and helped (A little) with it's build back in the day and Steve's Canberra's also. I have never used leap with it but you made me want to try with Touch. Have you given that a go mate ?

If I had Touch I would, but I don't, so I can't.

Leap Motion it is.

Do you have a Leap Motion Tony? If so, would you mind having a go to see if the switches, dials etc work for you?

I'd also be curious to know how your mileage varies, in terms of FPS in sim/VR+FI, with and without carriers to land on... Mine take a noticeable hit, regrettably.

I do have it mate, But it was taken out of the box for a week then put away, not my cup of tea. But I'll dig it out and give it a try. You using AI Carriers or the stock ones?

Oh the irony (coming from FI Customer Support)! LOL! :D ;)

Joking apart now... I'm currently using HMS Victorious '66 with AI Boat Traffic Compiler. I have a custom route set up in the Moray Firth, but any route will do the trick (but we also just need the ship wakes fixed to be visible in both eyes! ;) )

All the best
