Disable Leap Hands from Grabbing Virtual Yoke

Hi,

I've poked around a bit online and in the settings looking for this, but haven't found anything very direct. I like the idea of the virtual (Leap Motion {LM} ) hands (LeapHands?) for interacting with the cockpit but not the virtual yoke. I fly with a stick and the LeapHands keep grabbing onto the virtual yoke. Quite frankly I don't see the point of being able to grab a Virtual Yoke. If your real hands are outside the Leap Camera FOV, then LeapHands can't move the stick/yoke. If I'm flying an Extra 300 and looking at the ceiling... I mean out the top of the canopy, LeapHands are useless! If I'm flying a Cessna and looking at out the side window, LeapHands are useless... etc.

I played around with some settings but didn't see any noticeable difference in behavior. Ideally this would be a setting to simply enable/disable the LeapHands interaction with the virtual yoke entirely.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I agree that I prefer just grabbing a real joystick. Some people really like the yoke though, like love it, so it's a feature we need to have ;)

This isn't the easiest tweak to make in the world (we never added it as an explicit feature), but there is a way to fix it. Go into your simulator folder and run "FlyInsideAnnotator.exe" Select the airplane you want from the dropdown at the top. Click on the yoke. You'll see a right-hand pane which hopefully says:
Interaction Type:
Detected: Yoke Part
(Use Detected)

Click on the dropdown and change it to "none"

Click the "Save" button at the bottom. Next time you run the sim, that yoke won't be grabb-able. like I said, it's more of a work-around than a feature, but hopefully that helps for now?

Thanks for the feedback. Only problem I have is trying to run FlyinsideAnnotater.exe, I get three not found .dll errors...

wxbase310u_vc120.dll
wxmsw310u_core_vc120.dll
wxmsw310u_adv_vc120.dll

I un/reinstalled the latest FlyInside (1.92) to no avail. Obviously it's something to do with the Visual C++ runtimes, but figured I'd ask before getting too rambunctious in hunting anything down myself.

Haven't tried un/re-installing FSX. Kind of a pain to do that.

Would be kind of nice to have turning off grabbable yokes as a global on/off in the settings, but a workaround per aircraft is OK. Maybe the only way since yokes/sticks do vary.

I could see maybe liking virtual hands from OVR or Vive controllers on a yoke because they are relative to an exterior reference, but not so much those that require my hands to be in the FOV of a head mounted camera. To each their own, though!

Same errors here. Is this supposed to be working or had development of it been stopped?

Has anybody gotten this to work? I'm planning on buying FI and have a USB yoke and want to be sure that it will work normally with Leap Motion.

I am also seriously disappointed. Hardly any reaction from the dev team in this forum. Maybe this helps: I managed to install the dlls a few minutes ago, they can be download on the following page: https://github.com/wxWidgets/wxWidgets/ ... easeDLL.7z

Just put into the folder where Flyinsideannotator.exe is located. That's how far I got a few minutes ago - at least the annotator starts ...
