HTC Cosmos, How to Use Knobs (MD 82)

New here and happy(?) owner of the HTC Cosmos, which is available since yesterday. I bought it for using it in P3D, only.
I have to admit, I'm already a bit disappointed, however, I don't wanna give up hope, yet. One very annoying problem is that i simply can't find a way to use the knobs in the MD 82: the heading knob can be turned (this works nicely!), but I can't press it to activate HDG Select. As if this wasn't annoying enough, the altitude knob is pulled when I use the same controller action as for the HDG knob, however, there is no way to turn the knob to set an altitude. Most of the controller's buttons don't do anything in the sim, the FI binding dialog doesn't seem to work correctly (don't think that it'd be helpful for my issues anyway...).
Is there any easy way for me to fix this?
