OOM & Latency issues in P3D

Postby CaptCWGAllen » Fri Jul 31, 2015 7:50 am

I have been using FSX:SE up to now but thought I would try the P3D version. Looks great - cockpit and cloud shadows really do add to the immersion. Colours and contrast seem better in P3D.

However I am finding that the latency drops below 75fps a lot and the frames drop down into the teens a lot - unlike FSX:SE which runs like a train. Tried with and without ORBX. Worst performace was no ORBX flying around LOWI.

Was flying the included Carenado Bonanza.

OOM after about 10 mins.

Settings were on medium.

Not a gripe - just feedback.

cheers

Hey Peter,

Just curious if you have an affinity mask set in P3D and in FSX? I have a fairly similar system and the affinity mask at least doesn't hurt, but I also seem to have better performance in P3D than in FSX.

these additions to the prepar3d.cfg helped smooth p3d for me (to near or as good as fsx standard):

[SIM]
OPTIMIZE_PARTS=1

[Main]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.1

i have no AA turned on in the flysinside application, but have resolution at 4k.

Hi Robert,

No I don't have an AM - i was of the understanding that P3D didn't need it in 2.5?

Will try one.

Re: OOM & Latency issues in P3D - Fixed

Postby CaptCWGAllen » Sun Aug 02, 2015 2:04 pm

Have found the right settings now. Did the Optimize and fibre_frame tweaks and cut bak a bit more on the eye candy. Running like a train now - and the cockpit shadows are just fabulous.

Thanks for your help Robert and Tyke

cheers

Sounds like it was Tyke's tweaks that did it. Glad they worked out! I had already added the optimize parts bit but not the fiber one. It's now in!

Thanks Tyke!
