Same here. I'm baffled! Tried everything but unless I systematically delete the config files before any new flight, Flyinside crashes. I've tried going back to v1.71, with the same result.

I've also tried to roll back the last Win10 update (that I think is at the heart of this whole issue) but Win 10 doesn't allow me to do it completely...
I've spent dozens of hours trying to fix this problem, reading dozens of posts on P3D forums but with nil positive result. But eh! I'm a user, not a coder...

Hello Flyinside staff: could you just acknowledge this issue and tell us that you're working on it. I suspect that your energy is from now on focused mainly on your next flight simulator project but keep in mind that without our massive support, it will not go anywhere.

I own a small busines and let me tell you that if dozens of customers come to me with the same issue, I'll at least let them know that I'm working on the problem.

I understand that you can't reply to all posts but I consider this present issue as one that you should seriously have a look at.

I'm definitively looking forward to you next generation VR simulator but please, in the mean time, try to help us solve this nasty issue.

jP2308,

He is the latest update from what I've found. For me, without a doubt it's the Windows 10 update (KB4038788)!
This is how I learned from a friend how to disable the updates and have my system work properly 99.9% of the time.

Type in and open RUN in your search box and enter

services.msc

scroll down to WINDOWS UPDATES right click that line and DISABLE it in the properties, not stop it, but DISABLE

Then type in your search box for WINDOWS UPDATES or Windows Update History . . search for (KB4038788) and remove it for your system.

I've had to delete the prepar3d_FlyInside.cfg file and then restart as normal.
I let P3D start in what ever default it likes, then change airport and then aircraft and I'm back to normal.
At first I was able to have my default aircraft be the VRS Superbug and start in my parking spot at KNTU . . . but setting those as my default crashes my system.

Hope this helps,

Chopper

Would love to see a screen shot from Win10 showing something different,

thanks,

I have Windows 10 pro and my solution worked like a charm. I am not "hiding" updates. I am disabling the Update Service until a solution is found. In the meantime, I am flying P3D

Sesanchez,

I'm not 'hiding' anything . . . ???

Did you read my last post before you responded again??

I just posted the problem, the fix and the solution to make it work.

I believe YOU didn't read my post in the first place...

Unplug the computer from the network
Uninstall the KB
Reboot the computer
Disable the Windows Update Service
Connect to the network
Fly away your heart's content

Anyway... Glad you figured it out :D

I'm a bit late to this party but I have had the same issue with P3D 3.4. Loading a flight, getting to 100% and then displaying a message "P3D has stopped working". I removed the Windows update KB4038788 and it solved the issue. However I am personally not willing to run my computer without the latest updates as I use it for other online stuff as well as flying for a VA that uses PIREP software. There are a few work-arounds for those also like me that are not willing to run their machine without the latest updates. Selecting your aircraft and then creating a flight plan from the menu screen and then selecting OK to start the flight has resulted in me successfully conduct my flights. I am aware as well that if you initially create your flight and start it at NZSP, South Pole Station / Antartica, you can then move your aircraft to your desired depature airport which also work. Unfortunately though this doesn't help anyone using VR with complex aircraft as it still doesn't work despite the P3D work-arounds (unless you are flying the stock aircraft). P3D have stated that this is a .NET framework issue which Microsoft is working on and that there is going to be a fix issued around Nov 14th by Microsoft. Given that we know where the issue lies and that P3D can still work with a certain start up sequence, has anyone from Flyinside looked into the issue and a possible workaround? I'm hoping that come Nov 14th I can update my computer and everything works again. I have an error report that was generated after I had my first CTD with the new windows update but it's too large to attach (7.75Mb) so I have included the last few lines of the report;

Utils\Images.cpp: Line 219

So the new update released on 14th Nov has worked for me but I am running Windows 10 Version 1703. Looks like anyone with Version 1709 is still having problems

Good question, It didn't update me to 1709 but If it does then you can roll-back to 1703;

Info on when it will update to 1709 can be found here;
