first flyinside crash in a long while.

Postby pilotoring » Tue Nov 28, 2017 5:13 pm

I just had a flight on last Sunday and everything was fine. Today I cannot even fly for 5 minutes. I tried three times and Flyinside keeps crashing. Log file is attached.

I am running p3d v4.1 with FI, Hardware is in my signature.

Did you update your GFX card drivers? Some users solved this by updating or rolling back the GFX card driver

No. There was no change in graphic driver.

I reversed the only thing I did on Sunday (set FI to "prefer maximum performance" under power option in NVIDIA control panel), but the problem remains the same.

After first crash, I restarted the computer and then I saw something was being updated in the restart process. But there is no trace of anything being installed in update history. Very strange.

Since the last line in the error log says "Rendering\TextureQueueSharedSurface.cpp: Line 191", I wonder whether FI uses shader cache? I want to delete all shaders to refresh flyinside. Where are these files located?

Yes. It was Windows 10 update. The update should show up in the update history, but nothing is there. The history shows my last update was installed on 11/14/2017, nothing has been installed after that date.

So is this the cause of your problems?

Cannot say for sure, because there were two crashes before the restart. I am not sure whether the update took effect before the restart. If it does, then the answer is yes. If update did not take effect before restart, then the crashes had nothing to do with update.

Sorry I cannot give you a clear answer. I am clueless when it comes to computers.

Today I deleted all shader files of p3d and just finished two flights without crash. I think the problem is gone.
