I decided to give it a try after all.
The good news is I didn't get a crash this time and X-plane 11 was installed on my I: drive.
The bad news is it was a terrible VR experience. Compared to FSX and P3D, it looked horrible! Bad resolution, pixelated, sluggish, and low 22 FPS.
Not sure why the dramatic difference between other flight sims and this one using FI. I have an overclocked i7-6700k @ 4.4 Ghz, 32GB ram, an Nivida GTX 980ti, and 2TB of SSD SanDisk Ultra II drives. X-Plane in normal mode (no FI VR) looked fine and FPS were good. Sharp resolution. But when I installed FI, I couldn't get good performance in my Vive headset...lots of jutters, skipped frames, fuzzy and jagged edges. Looked bad!
But strangely the mirror image on screen looked ok.
So is something just not set right? I used the default settings.
Or is this just the symptom of an early beta set of products? Just seems way off compared to P3D + FI. In fact, not even close in terms of performance and image quality.
