crash report

Postby twgin » Sat Jan 28, 2017 4:52 am

Hi there, using XP11, pb9

HTC Vive
Windows 10 machine
Aircraft was Virtavia's C17

this was after somewhat recovering from a "black screen" event... as has been noted on XP forums sometimes the monitor XP display and the Vive will go black; the sim is still running, sounds are normal, the framerate indicator is framerating, the aircraft is flying, all is normal except for the black screen. what I have found is that changing the antialiasing setting within xplane will reset the graphics, i.e. get rid of the black screen, and let me continue the flight. so when I get the black screen, I go into graphics settings, change the antialiasing slider, hit "done" and I am back in the virtual cockpit.

In this particular instance the graphics came back but were "offset" as if the two vive lenses were pointed at different places. a few seconds later the whole thing crashed and the error message attached was generated.

Are all your other vr experiences working ok ? Some very strange problems you are having there ? If it continues then maybe we can set you up with a team viewing link with Dan so he can take a look for you?

Got it fixed. I have two GTX 1080 graphics cards in my system (not SLI). I had three monitors on the 1st and the Oculus VR on the 2nd. I disabled the 2nd card and connected the VR to the 1st card and all is good now. I may try connecting the two cards together with an SLI bridge and see if there is enough improvement in FPS to justify the 2nd card. I'm guessing with both cards enabled (running independent) the software was getting confused as to which card to use.
