Aerobask Eclipse

Postby Shalomar » Wed Apr 05, 2017 3:33 am

This is the very first addon I have put in XP 11 and it is fantastic!!! The oculus makes the knobs on the GPS a nightmare to operate so I have been sticking to pilotage or at most a direct to under VFR conditions. This plane will open up IFR ops again! A GTN 750 and 650 are on board and the click spots are a real treat to use. Now I want the Panthera too LOL...

I think controlling the knobs will be improved in the next versions like it already has been for FSX/P3D

Their Pipistrel Panthera is well worth a try too. It has more or less the same avionics, but is a single-prop rather than a jet, so the scenery doesn't go by so fast. It apparently also has an emergency parachute that will bring it down safely if your engine fails (or if you accidentally turn off the fuel when you are trying to switch the feed between the left and right tanks ) It's a good job the engine only needs a turn of the key to get it started again and that the plane apparently recovers very well from spins. :)

It gives a pretty solid 40-45/90 frame rate too, so the HD experience is top notch.

The avionics are probably the most notable aspect though.

What are you waiting for, it's on sale at the moment?

Has the improvement come to controlling the knobs ect? I'm a new customer to the XP version and never used P3D trial as I got v4 running st the moment.

The avionics on most of the Aerobask aircraft, including the Eclipse, are controlled via touch controlled screens that provide a number of ways to adjust things like heading, altitude, baro reading etc.

You can click on the value on the main display and it brings up a dialogue that allows you to enter a value via a numeric keypad or you can enter it using you pc's keyboard (perhaps not so good for VR users). Alternatively you can hover the mouse pointer over the value and use the mouse scroll wheel to adjust the values. I am afraid that my words probably don't do this interface justice, so have a watch of https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8SU_CdTCqdk .

This has to be the most intuitive interface I have used, so I wouldn't worry about knobs and such. Just get it. I am certain that you won't be disappointed.

Are you guys using the mouse to click or the controllers/leap motion?

I use a mouse. I have touch controllers, but struggle to use both those and the joystick/throttle.

I might try reinstalling my leap motion however, if that is at least as good, precision-wise, as the mouse

I use the leap motion and get mixed results, I'd be keen to hear how you go!

Bringing this back up. So just to confirm, do the Touch controllers work with the "Touchscreens" in the Aerobask cockpits? Or do I need to revert back to mouse to use the "touchscreens"?
