[Solved]X-Plane 11 Won't Start With FIXP Pro

Postby HammerT1me » Sat Jul 15, 2017 12:36 pm

Hello everyone,

I've used FI with P3D for a long time now. Never had any significant problems. Bought X-plane 11 yesterday, and FI XP Pro.

X-Plane 11 will not start with FI XP Pro installed. If I uninstall FI, it starts up and runs fine.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? I've searched the forums, but, with the exception of one person, I haven't seen anything similar.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

My system is an i7, with 16gb ram, and an Nvidia 970 graphics card. I'm not running any add-ons in X-Plane 11.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I've looked for a FlyInside log file in the X-Plane directory as well as the Local and Roaming folders within /user/name/AppData sub directories, and haven't found anything.

Any suggestions as to where I can find the log file you're referring to?

Thanks again.

It'll be under the appdata/roaming path in a folder called flyinside. Should say error log. Have you definitely download the correct version of flyinside for xp and your HMD and is the path correct? Silly questions but covering all bases. Plus also do a pc reboot ;)

Hi Tony,

Thank you for the information.

I checked the FI folder that you mentioned. There are only two FI files in that folder that are related to X-Plane. One is a FlyInside .ini file, and the other is a .bak of the .ini file. The other files (9) in the folder are all related to my FI P3D install.

I double checked the FI XP Pro install file. In fact, I re-downloaded the file, uninstalled the old FI XP Pro file, and reinstalled, using the newly downloaded file. Same results. Upon clicking on the FI icon on my desktop, I immediately get a message saying that the "X-Plane .exe has stopped working." This message occurs when trying to start X-Plane via the FI icon or the X-Plane icon. If I uninstall FI, X-Plane starts, and runs, normally.

I've considered uninstalling, and reinstalling X-Plane, but I really don't think that that's the problem, seeing as how it starts and runs normally when FlyInside is uninstalled.

Thank you for your help. I'm a retired airline pilot (United), and flight sims are the only way I get my "flying fix" now a days. For years I've used FSX and P3D. Only recently have I decided to try X-Plane. I'm really anxious to get it working with FlyInside. Since getting the Rift, and flying in VR, I just can't get into flying with a monitor. Totally spoiled!!

Thanks again.. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi and a warm welcome, ex RAF myself but only groundcrew ;) if there is no log in that folder then it sounds like xplane is at fault? Are you opting in to the beta ? If yes untick it and then try again. Are you installing xplane to a default folder ? Is it standalone or steam version? Do you have any addons installed yet ?

Hello Tony,

Thank you for your suggestions. I checked, and noticed, that I had inadvertently opted in to the beta. I unchecked that, and re-updated my X-Plane installation. I then reinstalled FlyInside XP-Pro. Unfortunately, still no luck. The game simply will not run with FlyInside installed. I also re-checked the "Roaming" sub folder for any flight logs. Despite the latest crash of the game, I still have only two X-Plane related files in that folder. The first being an .ini file, and the second being a .bak of the .ini file.

To answer some of the questions you posed in your previous message; X-Plane is installed in the root directory of a drive that is separate from my Windows directory drive. It is a standalone installation, not Steam, and as of yet, I don't have any addons installed.

You mentioned in your earlier message that it appears to be a problem with X-Plane. I'm going to uninstall both X-Plane and FlyInside. Tonight, I'll download X-Plane and reinstall it tomorrow; making sure that the beta option is not checked. I'll then reinstall FlyInside XP-Pro and see what happens.... Hopefully a reinstall will do the trick. Fingers, and toes, crossed!

Thanks again for your time and insightful suggestions. At this stage, I would truly be lost as to what to try next.

Most sincerely,
Tony Elias

Hey HammerT1me,

Two things:

What is the error message you get if you get one?
What does the xplane logfile say? Can you upload it here?

Tony another thing to test. Can you download an older version of flyinside xp? Try 1.75. Uninstall 1.81 and try the older version please.
