DISCOVERY - getting much better performance from XP/FSX

Postby Quijote » Wed Oct 04, 2017 5:59 am

Hello all,
I just discovered Process Lasso and am using it in xPlane and FlyInside. What a revelation! The people in P3D have been using it for a while but it isn't well known in xPlane.

I discovered this video on YouTube - https://youtu.be/n2pcl2pj5gc

I installed the free Process Lasso exactly as shown in the video. I got a few more frames in xPlane, but the improvement in FlyInside was remarkable. Even at JFK with the payware NYC installed, I still got 90 or above. Before, it just threw me out of 3d completely. In Process Lasso, I defined xplane and all the Oculus and FlyInside processes as High Performance running on cores 2-7. Inside the Rift, the difference in smoothness was immediately obvious and has continued with all kinds of planes and scenery.

This has been the most important tweak that I have added since going to VR.

Can you find out the technical specifications of your computer, please?
I also tried Process Lasso, but on my computer it was only worse.

Oleg.

Sure, I have an ASUS G752 ROG gaming laptop - i7700 2,8 OC to 3.4 with 16GB RAM and nVidia 1070 with 8GB RAM.

I followed EXACTLY the instructions in the video with the exception that I also treated the Oculus and FlyInside active processes just like xPlane - High Performance, high priority, and using cores 2-7.

FlyInside has shown more improvement than xPlane and always runs now between 90 and 95. xPlane gained a few frames but still bogs down in very complex sceneries. However, when it bogs down, my view doesn't change. I can move my head around like always. It's just that the sim runs a little slower, but I still see the scenery. Before, I was just kicked out of 3D when that happened. Now I stay in. This only happens in very dense sceneries like JFK and the NYC payware.
