My thoughts are to see if the very latest oculus software will work, you don't have anything to lose at this stage ???

you're correct... Can always remove it if it causes a conflict.

ok, installed latest runtime. DK2 still works on the oculus demo app. However, FI does not start FSX-SE. Now, on a hunch, I tried to run FSX-SE via Steam library ... it would not launch from there either. Uninstalled FI and FSX launches. Could it be a tweak to Steam that is needed?

Out of interest you say it all works on a 960 ? Hmmm something strange going on mate. Run fsx alone through steam, lower settings then delete the fsx-se.cfg again and restart.

yes, it previously ran on the 960 perfectly fine.

ok,
1. uninstalled FI
2. opened FSX steam from steam library
3. lowered settings to medium
4. closed FSX and library
5. reinstalled FI (pro 1.4 for OVR 0700)
6. run (from desktop icon) as admin
a. seems to start (mouse cursor turns to circle)
b. nothing happens
7. check taskmgr
a. nothing FI or FSX running
b. steam running.
c. Oculus running.
8. Recheck oculus demo app working
a. works fine
9. Recheck steam FSX running (if run direct from library).
a. fails to start.
10. remove FI and try FSX from steam library
a. runs fine.

Could it be the version of Flyinside?

Yes it's possible, go back a few versions and try, a pain I know, and you'll need to remove the Flyinside folder again :(

Have you tried the latest oculus home, won't need runtimes.
