Shimmering in default res, OOM in high res.

Postby CaptCWGAllen » Mon Jul 20, 2015 2:00 pm

Just wanted to check that the screendoor effect and consequential shimmering that it creates is normal? So, for example, on the ground airport buildings are not sharp - they are very jagged around the edges and any signage on them cannot be read. Am using ORBX NorCal and A2A Cherokee. Even with it is still awesome.

If I use high res (in FlyInside settings) then I get an almost immediate OOM with medium FSX settings - is this the norm?

Spec is:

PFC C2 Professional Flight Console, PFC Cirrus Rudder Pedals (GA),Intel Core i7 4930K 6-cored Processor 3.4GHz (Overclocked to up to 4.5GHz), Corsair Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler, 64GB Corsair PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (8 x 8GB sticks), NVIDIA GTX Titan 6GB Graphics Card, 256GB Samsung 840 Pro Solid State Drive, 1000GB Samsung 840 EVO Solid State Drive, 4000GB 7200rpm Hard Disk - 6Gbps

Any useful hints to reduce shimmering would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Peter

Sounds about right for the dk2 :) CV1 should be way better. OOM could be due to addons. Your addons might cause problems as I've read some people have probs with A2A stuff. Dan can pinpoint any issues hopefully .

Hey Capt, which Oculus runtime are you running? It seems there is an issue with running certain addons like Orbx scenery with FlyInside if you are running with 0.6.0 runtime. Might want to just try reverting and see if that helps any. It cured my OOMs and also some other people's.

You probably want to also swap for FlyInside for 0.5.0.1 if you revert runtimes but maybe not. It at least worked for me that they were mismatched but I fixed that now too.

Please let us know how things work out...
HTC Vive Pro/P3D/DCS/X-Plane
Orbx FTX Global Base, FTX Global Vector, scenery, airport packs

Hi Robert,

Running 0.5.0.1 - 0.6.0 didn't run at all for me when I first set up FIFSX - so reverted to 0.5.0.1 at outset.

Thanks
