Sitting on waiting for simulator.

Postby wmcmahon » Mon Jul 27, 2015 5:45 pm

I can't seem to get this to work, using Oculus 0.6.0.1, tried with both the Flyinside exe on the main website, and the one you posted on the forums for people having this issue...

I can get FSX loaded, the fly inside splash screen is there with the nice clouds and the window on-top. Load my flight, which loads in this narrow resolution on my other monitor, and fly inside just constantly says waiting for my flight to load. I can fly, just nothing in the rift.

Tried in direct and extended. Not sure what to do now.

OK A few things to try mate, roll back to 0.6.0.0 or 0.5.0.1 and download FlyInside for that runtime after uninstalling the one you have. When the rift starts is the tracker camera led blue and the rift headset led blue ? Also are you running FSX Steam edition ?

Can you post your system specs ?

Most people but not all have good results with 0.5.0.1 and direct mode but depends on your system.

https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/#sdk=pc

This is the link to the different SDK runtimes , just choose platform and version.

And welcome :)

Cool I'll give this all a try, for the record here are my specs:

Win7 64bit
i7 3770 @ 3.40Ghz
18gigs
P8Z77-V
GTX 970
Kingston 223Gb SSD

Using FSX Steam Edition with tons of addons, I did have ezdok and thought that might be the issue since you specifically said "Virtual cockpit". But it seems my virtual cockpit still is labelled "EZDOK VC" in the view mode (don't know if that makes a difference).

Edit: Yes the tracking light is on, I can navigate my head in the FlyInside splash screen.

Yeah that could be an issue, uninstall ezdok and see how you go. Also I think runtime 0.6.0.1 could be another reason. Can you try 0.6.0.0 and download Flyinside for that version ? Give it a try and report back. Keep plugging away, you won't be disappointed :)

OK, well I tried 0.5.0.1 as per your suggestion, still the same thing... the oculus shows just the fly inside splash screen... this is what I see on my desktop:

I've already uninstalled EZDok, not sure how to do a full clean uninstall....

As you can see in this image my views are still labelled EZCA:

I'll try runtime 0.6.0.0 and try fly inside for that version....
Should I just be uninstalling flyinside from add/remove programs?

It's most likely due to the camera name. FlyInside specifically looks for "Virtual Cockpit" (something I'll be improving in the future). Could you try renaming your "C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Camera.CFG" file so that FSX regenerates it?

Yup! Pretty sure it was the cameras.. cause it's working now.

Thanks for the help.

The instruments aren't really readable, but I know that's not your issue it's a resolution issue -- can't wait for higher resolution HMD's.

Set FlyInsideFSX at 4k resolution, that improves readability tremendously.

When you're in the cockpit, click "Settings" on the FlyInsideFSX window. Under Graphics, set Resolution to High.
