Vanishing scenery objects

Postby Deano1973 » Sat Aug 26, 2017 4:36 pm

Just an observation for Dan and the team as opposed to a bug.

I can fly around an airport and see all of the scenery in monitor mode, but when in FlyInside some of that scenery will mysteriously become invisible. An example would be a private jet and some other aircraft and scenery at Boscombe Down in the UK ( using ORBX EU England ), which all become invisible when using the Rift.

Not sure what might cause that and I don't have an immediate answer myself but though it worth mentioning in case it's a general bug and not something specific to my machine...

We get the same ish in xplane 11.....if you look directly at the scenery/object is it visible but when it's in your peripheral vision it fades ?

Sounds similar Tony, except that there is no fading - the objects just aren't there when the Rift is on. Same thing happens in Prepar3D so it must be something involving the way some bits of scenery are drawn. Could it possibly be a difference between .bmp files and .DDS or something maybe?

It is possible but I haven't seen it in FSX or P3D myself......the aircraft in XP use .png files so this gets all confusing mate ??? I'll check with Dan for you but he is away for a couple of days ;)

I have the same problem with clouds. Some high altitude clouds will disappear when I look away. I am using Rex texture direct with soft clouds and ASN in fsx-se.
