Installing Oculus Runtime 601 didn't work for me at all while running Flyinside .7 It started ok, but then shortly after gave me an error...and I cant remember exactly what it was, but it was one of those line errors. I lost my notes somewhere :( Tried to restart, and just encountered every single problem that you could encounter. Game ran on my monitor but the rift image was frozen inside cockpit. Then deleted both Flyinside folders in %appdata% and couldn't get back in because it said that the rift wasn't connected. A quick uninstall of 601 runtimes and install of 6.0.0 runtimes returned my ability to soar peacefully among the clouds... temporarily leaving behind a world full of pain and agonizing misery.

Sorry for hear that. I'm using the 0601 without problems and errors, even with Flyinside v.1 since the first day. Simply, I'm too lazy to revert back to the 0600 ,so I installed Flyinside and that worked for me. And I used v.1 till I figured out, there is a v.7
You tried the 0600 version of the Flyinside?

Sorry for the delay in replying. If anyone still has trouble with this message, I sorted it by uninstalling FlyInside, going to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\FlyInsideFSX and deleted the file in there then reinstalled. Worked for me!

Well, thank you for sharing that experience, but uninstalling FSX is considered the "nuclear option"....at least to me.

The FlyInside directory is nowhere to be found in my Roaming directory as well.

I managed to track the problem dowto to d3d9.dll missing some DirectX related DLLs. My DXDiag said that I have DX11 installed though. I gave it a try and reinstalled DirectX from here

http://download.microsoft.com/download/A/E/7/AE743F1F-632B-4809-87A9-AA1BB3458E31/DXSDK_Jun10.exe

Now the FSX started, I can see welcome screen in the Rift, but when I chose "Fly Now!" I got the following error:

FlyInside Fatal Error Encountered
Rendering\TextureQueue.cpp: Line 20

I am running W7, NVIDIA GeForce GTX780, Rift Runtime 0.6.0.0 and respective FlyInside.

Edit: Now that FSX started, I have the FlyInside directory, but deleting the config file has little effect.

I didn't have time to play with this a couple days. Today a gave FlyInside one more try, and everything was working. As far as I know I have not changed anything. So I guess for me the startup problem was solved by reinstalling DirectX and waiting a couple of days for things to settle ;o).

Glad you're sorted :) After an install of anything to do with DirectX a full reboot is highly recommended. In this case it would of been a necessity.

Is it all working ok for you now ?

All is fine except I was getting intermittent high CPU usage and low frame rates. I tried a lot of stuff but nothing helped. Finally, this page http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html suggested setting RejectThreshold in the fsx config file, and that helped. Now, I am getting only occasional drops in frame rate, and hopefully I will find out how to get rid of those too.
